Proposed Dog Control Orders by Northampton Borough Council 05/02/2007
We the undersigned Responsible Dog Owners and Dog Lovers are really worried that our elected Councillors might apply Dog Control Orders in a way that will severely penalise us rather than using them to reduce the nuisance caused to everyone by irresponsible dog owners.
Excluding us and our dogs from open spaces and forcing us to put our dogs on leads in areas where it is not really necessary will do nothing to reduce irresponsible behaviour because those owners will ignore the new rules as they ignore the present ones.
We are also concerned that the cost of over-enthusiastic application of Dog Control Orders will further reduce the funds available for the policies that our Councillors were actually elected to implement.
